OK, so our visit was at the wrong time, coming as it did on a Saturday afternoon awkwardly between late lunch and early evening, but we managed to get a feel for the place after a couple of beers and a game of pool or two. Consisting of two bars, one small and intimate, the other (the state room) large and comfortable with a smattering of sofas as well as stools and tables, Statement is a very attractive venue. it's low-lit, carpeted and well air conditioned, and there's plenty of space, at least during the day. We'd certainly like to give it a go during a busier period to get a feel for how popular it's becoming - which is a good sign by any standards

Decided to drop into this pub about 2 weeks back. It was 4.15 pm and I had a meeting in the city at 6.00pm. Kicked back for an hour there. The DJ was spinning a few tracks which I liked, the place was well decked out, and if memory serves me correctly the beers were in the $3 to $4 range, however only two on tap - Stellas and Coopers. I would drop in again, especially if I wanted to meet someone in a quite relaxed place - however the one issue was that from 4.15pm until about 5.30pm there was me, the DJ and the Barman. I will probably check it out again one Thursday night and see if there are more people.

good to find a bar that isn't a pokie den! not a flashing light in sight!!! They advertise free pool on a monday night, but only have one table.... good and bad, at least you get to meet other people when they challenge you for a game.

i don't work there and I went afta a show and apart from not having enuf people in there, the place was cool. maybe it was quiet cause it was afta the show, but still a dark cosy feel and worth going to.

nice place! sophisticated but not too pretentious. ...kind of hard to find, but worth it.

I discovered this stunning bar when seeing a show at the State Theatre. It's dark and moody and has a good selection of mezze type food and decent priced drinks. The inner city's best kept secret! Will most likely soon become the "place to be seen" in Sydney....

It's underground, stylish with a great selection of tapas and drinks at reasonable prices. Is very quiet during the week which is great for a relaxed after work drink. Undiscovered venue!
