The Paragon is situated in a pretty good spot. Right on circular quay, handy for buses, trains, ferries and taxis, it's no surprise it's a fairly busy spot. Through the day folks drift in for lunch from the surrounding office blocks, then immediately after work it's more of the same. Later in the evening when the suits have moved on the place gets taken over by the under-25s, especialy upstairs, meaning it can be noisy, jostly and often surly. Security is generally pretty tight at these times. I have to admit, there are better places within walking distance. This isn't to say that the Paragon is necessarily bad, but you're within spitting distance of The Rocks - which is possibly the best pub area in Sydney and how do you measure up? If you're passing at lunch, go for it. If you're making a night of it and you're over 20, consider the short walk towards the bridge

This place has it all-apart from atmosphere. The decor is clean and fresh, the barstaff are friendly-but there is just something missing. The atmosphere is not great, but if you're with a huge group of mates-you may have a wicked time!

It was great in the late seventies for Merchant Seamen docking in Circular Quay. Good beer, juke box etc. I'm visiting OZ. in 2005 with my grown-up family. The Paragon will be on my long-long list of "must see agains" !!!

I don't understand the criticism. I've always found it to be a warm and friendly establishment, probably my favourite in the city!
