Old Fitzroy
Tucked away in a quiet corner, a good venue

The Fitzroy is a small, dark pub nestled in the backstreets behind Wooloomooloo which is proving pretty popular indeed. It's one of a few Sydney pubs with a theatre attached, with regular performances in different styles. Upstairs is the pool room, but on this visit we've decided to acquire a streetside table and enjoy the warm breeze. It's busy on this particular friday, with plenty of people in enjoying the atmosphere. Downstairs the pub has a fairly british feel, but it's quite dark so don't expect to be able to read a book without straining your eyes! In the corner is a battered little dartboard, but it's not the most popular attraction here. Beers on tap include Coopers, Guiness, A couple of varieties of James Squire and several others, so there's plenty of choice. Yup, we quite like it.

I agree, this is a perfect local pub - nice friendly staff, decent food and cold beer - all within crawling distance of home!

A gem of a pub, great food at good value, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, a must if your stopping for a few beers in the area.

Excellent pub. Prawn and tofu laksa was sublime. Good, cold beer at reasonable prices. Friendly staff quirky locals and the occasional cute Swedish backpacker. What more could a man want?

One of the best pubs in Sydney. Great food, great music, nice atmosphere. Pretty close to perfect.
