Guest Review (6 Oct 2006)

The Green Square also known as the Zetland Hotel.

Once the hotel was one of the few venues in Sydney that would host young and up and coming indie bands. Now after a recent sale to new owners and a complete refit the hotel has turned from a workers pub to a 5 star venue.

There is a separate lounge area, dining area, fire place and huge beer garden with cover and heating for the winter months.  The smoking area has been restricted to the TAB & poker machine rooms however, you can still sit down with friends and enjoy a cigarette and a drink together.

I would definitely book your book your Christmas functions early if your organisation is in the area as it will fill quickly. The food and drinks are both reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and willing to have a chat and take an interest in your well being.

In my opinion it is one of the few hotels that still serves a decent Resches on tap.

Mark from Zetland
This is my local but I never see anyone in there. Rumour has it that when this pub was called The Zetland that the notorious underworld character Neddy Smith did his deals here. You do get the feeling blood has been washed off the walls before. It is true regular bands play here and there is a kitchen. I've experienced neither.

Not a bad place - functional kitchen, booze isn't pricey, lots of live music, generally of the punk/ska metal variety
