At night the youth of the area flock here to drink, dance and pick up

More pubs in Rural & Regional NSW >>

My wife (occassional pubguide contributor Sophie) grew up in this area, or more specifically in Moss Vale up the way, so we come back to see the in-laws now and again, often in the company of my Brother-in-Law. Usually we're here to get away from it all, but I relented recently and went of to Bowral with a few of the lads and ended up in hitting the Bowral, and let me tell you it was packed. It seemed like everyone in the area between 18 and 25 was here, and the atmosphere was energetic, loud, and distinctly alcoholic - this isn't where you should be if you want a few quiet ones - stay at home - but if you're up for a blast, give it a go. It's the latest opener around here so a Mecca, especially after the other pubs close, and the dance floor is usually packed. I'm yet to get here in the daytime, but I'm sure it's somewhat different! Security is tight, of course, and it does need to be on occassion, as the exuberance can spill over, and yes, the police did turn up on this particular night, as they usually do at weekends. I'd love to tell you some of the stories I've heard but I won't, though I will say one fo these days I'm going to get here in the daytime and see what it's like in pub mode rather than nightclub mode

neshmeister from Bowral
i have 2 agree with maximus on this one. i've lived in bowral my whole life, the whole 19 years, and the only thing 2 look forward 2 is the weekend. but it does get rather tiresome and it becomes more of a time 2 see all your mates, and enemies, instead of meeting new people.

let me assure all parties interested that not only is the bowral slow during the day but the whole town is. a few quite ones may not be on the aggenda for a night out here but from experience i have found that that is all you will get during the day. a few friends gathered around the pool table stick in one hand a beer in the other. each night after close a fight breaks out on the street. not last week someone tried to start me by calling me t-bone. to this i took great offence.
