untitled review (7 Apr 2003)

The blue olive bar is a relatively new addition to york street. It is light and airy with magnificent blue carpets, olive chairs, a huge restaurant section and glass doors. It is really stylish and does offer a better crowd than the Forbes Hotel accross the road from it. Apart from being a really great venue for meetings, or for after work drinks, it is a great lunch time place as well. The waiters are friendly and dressed in bright blue shirts. The service is a little slow but hey it caters up to 100 people per lunch and it is so airy and refreshing that it is worth waiting. Lunch consisted of a Goat's Cheese, Caramelized Leek and Potato Pizza on a great base for $14. Absolutely fantastic and filling! They also cater for food to go (8297 4123) and a party pack (8297 4144) so this bar does accomodate for everyone and thing. Just to mention cos it is the first noticible thing, everything from the menus, coasters, tables and chairs is colour coded in hues of blues, olives , browns and it really works. The bar is in the middle and the restaurant is along the walls and it gives such space and comfort. It gets really busy on Thurs and Friday nights, but visit this place for a quick drink, it's a must!

Blue Olive is currently closed for renovation, and will be re-opening as a Bavarian Beer Cafe, adding to the Boutique Beer quota which is sweeping Sydney
